How Does the 2027 Bolt Compare to the 2023 Bolt EV?

Like a bolt from the blue, the Chevy Bolt is back! Did you miss it? Four years can seem like a long time, but like the old Rolling Stones song, time was on the side of Chevy for its smallest and most affordable EV model. The 2027 Bolt takes everything that made the Bolt EV stand out and improves upon it. Chevy has taken steps to use everything it has learned over the last four years developing other EVs to improve upon the previous generation of the Bolt.
The place to go to find a Chevy Bolt for sale is Vernon Chevrolet. We offer a wide selection of new Chevy models, including the 2027 Bolt. Our friendly team will help you find the features and trim level you need to truly make your next Chevy your own, getting you the things you want in your next Bolt. We will help you make the move to an EV with a new 2027 Chevy Bolt.
A New Battery Gets the Bolt Going!
The new 2027 Chevy Bolt is leading the way for the Chevy brand in terms of EV engineering. Instead of the 65 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt pack found in the 2023 Bolt EV, the new Bolt has a 65 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. This is the first Chevy model to feature lithium-iron-phosphate, but it will likely not be the last.
Using lithium-iron-phosphate offers equivalent range in a less expensive battery than what was used for the first-generation Bolt EV. It also translates into better charging times. The maximum charging rate for the 2027 Bolt is 150 kW, a significant increase from the 55 kW rate on the 2023 Bolt EV. That is almost three times faster.
In fact, you can charge the battery pack of the 2027 Bolt up to 80% in just 26 minutes at a public DC fast-charging station. You even get an NACS charging port, allowing you to access Tesla’s vast charging network, a first for any Chevy EV model. That means you will spend more time on the road with more charging options and less time sitting around a charging station or trying to locate one when you are driving the new Bolt.
The 2027 Bolt delivers 210 horsepower and 169 lb-ft of torque, compared to an output of 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque in the 2023 model. This output change is because the Bolt now uses the same drive motor as a variety of other Chevy models. The 2027 Bolt is front-wheel drive only to give you the best range on a full charge; in this case, 255 miles. That is similar to the 259 miles of maximum range in the 2023 Bolt EV.
Two Trims to Choose From
The 2023 Bolt EV was offered in two trims: a basic 1LT and a 2LT, which included more standard features. The 2027 Bolt goes in a different direction. In fact, the new Bolt will shock folks with its two trim level options.
The LT is the entry-level model and offers everything you could want in an electric subcompact SUV. It has some amazing features like an 11-inch Driver Information Center and an 11.3-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. This is larger than the 10.2-inch touchscreen that came standard on the 2023 Bolt EV.
Drivers who want something a little more sporty will like the Bolt RS. This trim is similar to other RS trims available on other Chevy models. It features a unique front grille, RS badging, and gloss black roof rails. Chevy then takes this exterior design and carries it into the interior of the RS with black Evotex seats and red stitching. These are not only incredibly cool, but they are comfortable and easy to keep clean. The interior of the Bolt RS also has multi-color ambient lighting to help you set the mood when you are cruising around in your Bolt at night.
New Technology for a New Bolt Generation
As pointed out, the 2027 Bolt features a larger infotainment screen than the 2023 Bolt EV. The new Bolt also has Google built-in. This allows you to personalize your ride and access your favorite apps without connecting your smartphone. Using Google Assistant, you can get hands-free help with things like travel and entertainment information to go along with the hands-free connectivity provided by the wireless system.
Chevy offers other new technologies on the 2027 Bolt, giving you the option to add two cutting-edge innovations to your EV. These are features that have been tried on other Chevy models and found by drivers to be impressive additions, making the ride more enjoyable.
You can add a wireless charging pad to your Chevy Bolt. This will come in handy when you forget your smartphone’s charging cables. Just place your smartphone on the pad, and it will charge up in no time. This is especially helpful in a model like the Bolt, as you don’t need to worry about plugging your phone in to use the infotainment system.
If you’ve ever wanted to say “Look ma, no hands” while driving, you can do that if you add available Super Cruise to your 2027 Bolt. Super Cruise is Chevy’s autonomous driving technology. You can now drive hands-free on roughly 750,000 miles of compatible roads across North America, helping you cut down on driver fatigue while helping you and your passengers in your Bolt get to your destination safely.
One other innovation that is new to the Bolt is Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) charging. This helps turn your 2027 Bolt’s battery into a power source for your home. When the system detects a power outage while your Bolt is plugged into your home charging station, it will reverse the direction of the charge. This bi-directional charging capability allows you to use the battery in the Bolt to keep your lights on at your home during a blackout.
More Standard Safety Features Than Ever Before
The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV stood out for its wide array of standard Chevy Safety Assist features. The prior generation model had six impressive standard safety features, including Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking. When the system detects that you are getting too close to the vehicle in front of you, it will sound an alert so you can take evasive action, and it will deploy the emergency brakes to bring your vehicle to a safe stop.
The 2027 Bolt takes things a step further, including over 20 standard safety features on the vehicle. This will help keep you safer when driving the Bolt. One of the most common causes of highway accidents is lane changing. When you signal to change lanes, you may not notice another vehicle driving in your blind spot. As you change lanes, you may collide with the other vehicle. Standard Blind Zone Steering Assist on your 2027 Bolt will sound an alert when you attempt to change lanes in this situation, applying slight steering wheel inputs to prevent a collision with the other vehicle.
There are other new safety innovations on the 2027 Bolt as well. For example, you get Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking. This is similar to Automatic Emergency Braking, but it works when you go to cross an intersection. The system will detect any vehicle about to cross your path, engaging the emergency brakes to avoid a dangerous T-bone collision. You get so many standard innovations that your Bolt will have you covered for almost any situation and hazard you may encounter when out on the road.
The 2027 Bolt Is Back and Better Than Ever!
Whenever an automaker wants to update a model, it has to consider how to make things better. This was certainly the case with Chevy and the 2027 Bolt. Fortunately, the four years since the last model were worth the wait. Chevy gives you a new battery that is much faster to charge, an incredible 20 standard safety features, all-new technology, and an available sporty RS trim. This is why the 2027 Chevy Bolt is sure to provide a power surge to so many drivers looking for great value in an EV!
